Specifically County Clare – evern more specifically the Dysert O’Dea tower house near enough to Ennis. The O’Deas were one of the principal Dalcassian septs – from which came Brian Boru, high king of Ireland. Their principal area of control was modern County Clare into modern County Tipperary. Other Dalcassian families included the O’Briens, MacMahons and Kennedys (and many more). But you know that if you’ve been reading my earlier posts O’Dea is typically pronounced as “Oh-Day”
