The Burren, County Clare

The Burren, or An Bhoireann in Irish, translates to “a stony place”—and it certainly lives up to its name. The region is primarily composed of limestone pavement, shaped by glacial activity and erosion over thousands of years. Despite its rocky surface, the Burren is home to exceptionally rich and unique biodiversity.
